One of the questions we hear most in our store is: “What should I buy with my savings?” The answer depends on what you are buying gold for. In this article we put the çeyrek (quarter) gold coin, the bangle and the gold bar side by side and explain, in plain language, which one suits which purpose.
This article is for general information only and is not investment advice. We recommend reviewing current prices and your own needs before making a decision.

Gold Bars: Simple Saving
Gram gold bars are 24 karat and their price depends almost entirely on the market value of gold. They are not worn; they stay in a safe or their packaging. If your only aim is to save, they are the simplest option.
Çeyrek Gold Coin: The Value of Tradition
The çeyrek (literally “quarter”) is a 22 karat traditional coin minted by the Turkish State Mint, weighing about 1.75 grams. It is the classic gift pinned on the couple at weddings and engagements, or given at a birth. Because it is a small unit, it is easy to match the number of coins to your budget. The yarım (half), tam (full) and Ata lira belong to the same family. For a detailed weight table, see our Turkish wedding gold guide.
Bangles: Jewellery and Savings in One
Burma (twisted), Trabzon woven and cuff bangles are usually 22 karat. Their biggest advantage is that you can wear them: your gold sits both on your wrist and in your savings. In return, a craftsmanship premium is added to the price, and it is higher for models that require fine handwork. When you sell a bangle later, it is usually valued on its pure gold content and the craftsmanship premium is not returned.
Which Should I Choose?
- Saving only: Gold bars.
- Wedding or birth gift: Çeyrek, yarım or tam gold coins.
- To wear and to save: A 22K bangle.
- A lasting keepsake: A necklace with a Reşat or traditional gold coin pendant, combining value and meaning.
What to Check When Buying
- See the karat and weight clearly on the invoice.
- Ask about the craftsmanship premium on bangles and compare models.
- With gold coins, check that the packaging and minting are intact.
- Find out the difference between the buying and selling price in advance.
